Which service is right for me?

You do not need to know exactly which service you need before reaching out.  Therapy and neurofeedback support clients in different ways, and each person’s path is individual.  During the consultation and intake process, we will listen to what you are experiencing, answer your questions and help you consider an appropriate next step.

Therapy

Therapy creates space to understand experiences, emotions, relationships and patterns that may be affecting daily life. Beth uses a person-centered, relationship-focused approach tailored to each client’s age, needs and goals.

Therapy may be appropriate for:

  • Children, teens and adults
  • Grief, trauma and difficult transitions
  • Anxiety, stress and emotional regulation
  • Foster and adoptive children and families
  • Individual, couples or family support

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback is a noninvasive form of brain training that uses real-time feedback to help clients become more aware of patterns in brain activity. Services begin with an individualized intake and assessment.

Services available in-person or counselor guided in the satellite office or at-home program.

Neurofeedback may be explored for support with:

  • Attention and focus
  • OCD
  • Stress and emotional regulation
  • Sleep
  • Resilience and performance
  • Individual brain-training goals

Can Therapy and Neurofeedback Be Used Together?

Yes. Depending on the client’s needs, therapy and neurofeedback may be used independently or as a complementary part of an individualized care plan.

Therapy provides space to understand experiences, emotions and relationships. Neurofeedback offers another way to support awareness and regulation of the brain activity.  Some clients begin with one service and later explore the other, while others may use both.  Beth helps clients consider the available options without assuming that one path is right for everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy and Neurofeedback

What services does Mountain Haven Pathways offer?

Mountain Haven Pathways offers individual, couples and family therapy, brain mapping, neurofeedback and coordinated care for children, teens, adults, couples and families.

Therapy and neurofeedback may be used independently or incorporated into a coordinated care plan based on your goals, history and preferences. Additional professional services including court preparation, professional opinions, testimony and document support may also be available when appropriate.

Therapy focuses on thoughts, emotions, relationships and coping skills, while neurofeedback uses real-time brainwave feedback to support self-regulation.

Therapy provides a supportive environment for understanding experiences, processing emotions and developing healthier patterns. Neurofeedback uses sensors placed on the scalp to measure brainwave activity and provide feedback that helps the brain practice more regulated patterns.

Yes. Therapy and neurofeedback can be incorporated into one coordinated care plan.

The two services are provided during separate appointments but may complement one another. Therapy helps address emotional, behavioral and relational concerns, while neurofeedback may support attention, regulation, stress response and other individualized goals.

Your care begins with an intake and includes a qEEG brain map before a personalized training plan is recommended.

During neurofeedback training, sensors measure brainwave activity while specialized software provides real-time visual or auditory feedback. Nothing is implanted, and the sensors do not send electrical current into the brain.

Neurofeedback is noninvasive and does not electrically stimulate the brain.

Sensors placed on the scalp monitor brainwave activity while feedback is provided through specialized software. Your clinician will review your history, monitor your response and adjust recommendations based on your individual needs.

The number of sessions varies according to your goals, history and response to training.

Neurofeedback typically involves a series of sessions rather than a single treatment. Your clinician will recommend an individualized plan and review your progress to determine whether the frequency or number of sessions should be adjusted.

Neurofeedback should not automatically be considered a replacement for prescribed medication.

Some people use neurofeedback as a non-medication-based service, while others incorporate it alongside therapy or medical treatment. Many neurofeedback clients have found significant relief of their symptoms and  decreased or titrated off of their medication under the care of their medical professional.  It’s IMPORTANT to note medication should never be stopped or changed without consulting the prescribing healthcare professional.

Costs vary by service, and insurance coverage depends on your plan, diagnosis and benefits.

Mountain Haven Pathways offers private-pay options, accepts certain insurance plans and may provide financing or bundled neurofeedback pricing. Contact your insurer to confirm coverage and speak with the Mountain Haven Pathways team before beginning care to understand your expected costs.

Mountain Haven Pathways serves clients in-office in Sandpoint, Idaho, and Thompson Falls, Montana.  In-Home neurofeedback services are also available in Boise, Idaho.  Telehealth therapy services are available statewide in Montana and Idaho for eligible clients.

Service availability may differ by location and by type of care. Contact the practice to confirm where your preferred service is offered and whether an in-person or eligible telehealth option is appropriate.

Begin by scheduling a free 15-minute consultation.

During the consultation, you can discuss your concerns, ask questions and learn which services may be appropriate. The next steps include completing an individualized intake, discussing care options, reviewing costs and scheduling your first appointment.
